چکیده

This research bridges the gap between quasi-static and high-strain-rate loading regimes in cross-laminated timber (CLT) by investigating two areas that have remained unstudied or elusive, i.e., rolling shear failure of CLT under impulsive, blast-like intermediate strain rates CLT. To study conditions would promote modes failure, a novel, highly adaptable center-point testing system methodology were developed permitted application impulsive to undamaged panels controlled repeatable manner. The condition low span-to-depth ratio (6.40 ≤ L:h 6.55) selected encourage development failure. Changes rotational rigidity at boundary allowed for empirical simulation realistic conditions. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) load cell data used identify following loss resistance specimens. Overall, experiment was successful consistently eliciting providing damage characterization impulsively loaded Shear resulted dramatic all specimens tested. Strain-rate enhancement dynamic apparent flexural stiffness 1.3 7.2 times observed. Lower levels observed with higher boundary-condition rigidity.

Impulsively Loaded Circular Plates

Ahatraet-The dynamic behaviour of elastic-plastic circular plates, with deflections in the range where both bending moments and membrane forces are important, is investigated. The formulation is restricted to two dimensional and axisymmettic responses. The effect of shear deformations, rotary inertia and material strain rate sensitivity is not considered. The equations of motion are solved for ...

Analysis of acoustical behavior of bare cross laminated timber floors for the evaluation of the improvement of impact sound insulation

The estimation of impact sound insulation of horizontal partitions, evaluated from the performance of basic components using EN 12354-2 Standard, do not actually provides satisfactory results when applied to the floors realized with cross laminated timber (CLT) elements. Among the possible reasons of this limited correspondence between predicted and measured impact noise values, one of the most...

Aluminum-laminated Panels: Physical and Mechanical Properties

Aluminum lamination was performed to improve the physical and mechanical properties of several wood-based composite panels. The panels were aluminum-laminated on two faces in a hot press at 689 kPa and 120 °C for 6 min. Four types of wood-based composites were used as cores, and aluminum 3003 alloy sheets were used for face laminations. Polyurethane adhesive ensured bonding strength between the...

The Fire Performance of Exposed Timber Panels

Cross-laminated timber is increasingly being used in the construction of high-rise buildings due to its simple manufacturing system. In term of fire resistance, cross-laminated timber panels are promoted as having excellent fire resistance, comparable to that of non-combustible materials and to heavy timber construction, due to the ability of thick wood assemblies to char slowly at a predictabl...
